Finnabair Inspired ...............

Hi Friends

Today I have a special post.......

I am so excited and honored to be featured today as the Top Talent Spotlight at Our Creative Corner !! I had won the Color Your World challenge for this entry of mine and was so happy and thrilled when I was asked to be in the spotlight. I am so grateful for this Laura and most of all for your lovely comment..................

// My winner Suman blow me away with her use of watercolor paints, texture paste, and acrylic paints with stencils. The stunning flowers just popped right off the page. What a delight for the eyes with all the fabulous details. Thank you Suman for showing us how you “Color Your World”.//

I have a short interview and some pictures of this special project on the OCC blog today. I hope you'll go and take a look. Here is my Finnabair inspired project..............

I love the rays effect going from the center ...........

You can see the dimension and the texture on the side panels, the texture is repeated on the outer edges too......here you can see another spellbinder flourish die-cut too and the gorgeous layered laces............ The size of the piece is 14x 14inches....

 can you spot the poppy.........

Most of the things in this project are recycled starting from the  base which is a piece of left over plywood, the tiny bottle which is a perfume sample bottle and some left over pieces of lace. The flowers are handmade with homemade cold porcelain clay and the collected ephemera is household junk  like washers, nuts and bolts, broken beads, old coins, keys, pearls, shells, buttons etc. the micro beads are actually mustard seeds.

Am so kicked that I made all the mediums like Texture paste, Heavy Gel Medium, Black Gesso and white Gesso myself with easily available materials. The colors used (  Fevicryl Pearl Metallic Colors) are made by an Indian company, Hobby Ideas and the brand name is Fevicryl (available on their online and physical stores. )  !!
You can see the tiny perfume bottle here..............

the tiny keys, washers, nuts and bolts, drywall tape, seed beads and mustard seeds, sea shells.......love the pop of color of that one big magenta rhinestone.....

the various die-cuts..........The Victorian Romance Flourish by Cherry lynn  is cut out of thin metal sheet and used in opposite coners, other dies used are Sprightly Sprockets by Spellbinders and leaf by Sizzix cut out of cardstock............

Two different laces are layered ............

Plenty of texture using different stencils and homemade texture paste...........I have used Mini Tile and Art is stencil by Crafters Workshop.

You can see plenty of handmade embellishments used here in this post of mine.

Don't miss to check out my Top Talent post at Our Creative Corner and a short interview I have there and leave me some love !! Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a sweet comment!

Suman I love your creation not only becuase its a beauty but Especially because you have recyceld such a lot of stuff and made your own texture media and used paints made in India. Honestly speaking it pains me to see why in a country such as ours where there are artists from time immemorial we have to use imported paints and other artist media. I think the main reason lies in lack of awareness!

AWESOME....and the fact that you reused so many products from home and made your own mediums and pastes is so, so inspiring. What a creativity , Suman ji. I personally struggle with mixed media artwork but I'm glad I have a few very talented and inspiring people on my blog list whom I can follow and learn so much. :)
